DISCLAIMER

It’s a shame we have to bring this up but, in this day, and age it’s a necessity. For those that read it all the way through we decided to leave a little sugar at the end.

That being said here is the reasoning behind said disclaimer. Have you ever read a book and identified with the main character so much that years later you could recall every detail of their struggles or the glory of their triumphs as if it was yesterday? That’s exactly what our books are attempting to do. The problem is, something like that is hard to quantify and really depends on your child’s love for literature and their imaginative faculties.

Now for that sugar we were talking about. When we were putting The Prime together, we were very particular about the content. Placing the key points of a school drug program within a novel was the easy part. What was hard was roping the reader in and ensuring they’d want to stick around for the ride. So, we tried to envision the reader as the pilot of a hot air balloon, one that for better or worse was heading towards a mountain. It was our job to make certain the ballast system was tuned to perfection. To do this we picked a diverse group of beta-readers and decided to let the chips fall where they may. It led to a complete rewrite of the book that took two years. This isn’t an exaggeration. Entire characters hit the cutting room floor, whereas others found the spotlight.

Our point is these books are tailor-made with your teen in mind. It’s something we happen to take very seriously and if you have a concern, we’d love to hear about it. Because whether it’s ten years ago or last week, if there’s enough merit, we aren’t above rewriting something to make sure it’s perfect.
